Happy New Year to all my family, friends, clients, and students!
This year has been tremendously successful for me, and through all the great posts I see there are a lot of other success stories out there for all of you. I hope in some small way I have been able to be part of creating a better life for those I have met this year.
This year don’t change, this year just be you. Many of us spend time running down who we are as a person, yearning to be someone else or something more, yet all the tools we need to have what we want are already in place. Stay who you are, change the actions!
I was visiting a store to prospect for business, and was waiting outside the Sales Office for the Sales Manager to free up. I could hear the Manager telling a Sales Consultant, “You are a terrible Salesperson”, “You couldn’t sell whiskey to the Indians!”, “Why do you bother showing up, I should just have the lot kid take Ups!”. You all get the point, it was a depression session.
It is bad enough that a Manager had to use screaming and personal insults to coach, but the worst part is that they all center around who the Sales Consultant is as an actual person. Even when someone else isn’t assailing our character, we even do it ourselves.
Spend this year as a Manager talking about positive attributes and how actions are holding us back. Just be you this year, all the best qualities that have gotten you success.
Spend this year on ACTION!
This year when you look towards success start talking about the actions that are holding you back. Talk about how you sell, not being a different or better Sales Consultant; Talk about how you eat, not how you do not want to be fat; Talk about what you read, not question your intelligence.
When we talk openly about actions, they change. When actions change, results happen.
This year be the same you with results happening! Happy New Year!
